SHARED LIVING IN ARTS

‘Shared Living in Arts’, for Bedouin high school students in the Negev. The program, to be implemented in collaboration with Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design Jerusalem, differs from other periphery-based youth programs, in that it wishes to enhance vocational readiness through study and practice of the arts, rather than mathematic, the sciences and computers.

The triennial program will take place in Bezalel Excellence Center in Ofakim, where 15-20 promising high school students from nearby Bedouin communities will Work alongside Jewish students, engaging together, various artistic disciplines. We thus hope to diversify the student body at Bezalel Academy, make accessible academic studies to Negev-based Bedouin youth, bring closer Jewish and Bedouin students and, ultimately, increase beneficiaries’ chances for vocational integration in Israel’s mainstream society.

The pilot program proposed shall is designed to make the following objectives a reality:

  • To cultivate educational excellence and skills among Bedouin students
  • To enhance their sense of self-efficacy in a manner conducive to their ultimate integration into vocational frameworks
  • To facilitate a shared envoirment in which Bedouin and Jewish students interact and form social bonds.
