Building a Brighter, Shared Tomorrow
Through Community-based, Bedouin-Jewish Cooperation & Creative Youth Programs
In 2010, we established A New Dawn with the understanding that an independent, community-based, and cross-cultural approach was needed to address the challenges of and tap into the full potential of the Negev Bedouin community.
We still use that grassroots spirit to address and meet today’s challenges.
We value fresh ideas, learning from history when exploring modernity, diversity in all forms, and dedication to all people in our community.
A New Dawn’s youth programs and intergroup relations efforts are designed to fulfill core needs of the Bedouin society, create a new socio-economic horizon for the community, and engage partners from the Negev, throughout Israel, and across the globe.
Our youth are building on a storied history and legacy of resilience and strength. It’s up to us to ensure they reach their full potential. A New Dawn exposes community youth to real-world, diverse, and hands-on opportunities to build confidence, leadership and career skills, and become champions for a shared tomorrow in the Negev and beyond.
Historically, the Arab Bedouin of the Negev were a nomadic people with over 90 tribes. These tribes built their lives in a migratory and independent fashion, largely across Saudi Arabia, Sinai, and Southern Israel.
Following the establishment of the State of Israel, the Bedouin became semi-sedentarized, and today 55% live in 11 recognized cities, such as Rahat, while others choose to live in unrecognized villages.
